The Phases
Phase I
Leaders are introduced to emerging leadership topics. Throughout the year, they will discuss leadership theories, work on public speaking skills, and participate in several community service projects.
Phase II
Leaders will be introduced to established leadership topics. Participants must implement a leadership theory within their student organization. Session discussions will include topics such as: budgeting, conflict management and conflict resolution. Leaders will also be involved in an alumni mentoring program and community service projects.
Phase III
Leaders will be challenged to develop their own leadership style and coordinate an auction that benefits the student emergency fund.
Eligibility
You must:
- be a full-time student.
- maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
- be a member of a student organization.
- be willing to develop leadership skills.
- learn about yourself as a leader.
Time requirements
- Phase I requires one hour on a weekly basis.
- Phase II and Phase III require one hour on a bimonthly basis as necessary.
Remember your student organization will also meet for one hour every week.
Progression
- You must complete each phase, starting with Phase I, before you enter the next phase.
- Leaders will celebrate their success, as a class, at the Pioneer Awards Convocation.
